We need to be confident that your son or daughter will thrive in our care.
Mary Hare offers outstanding primary education and at secondary has both academic and vocational pathways through to Year 11 and Year 14. Our teaching can meet the needs of a deaf child even if their early goals have been missed. It is an exceptional deaf child who needs more than we have to offer.
Mary Hare does not use sign language but has very special arrangements for pupils who wish to develop their ability to be educated through spoken and written English. Because Mary Hare is a very specialist setting it is an exceptional deaf child who cannot make this change.
We recognize that a deaf child may be behind linguistically and academically but we are skilled in seeing the potential of a deaf child. More importantly, Mary Hare School has the ability to accelerate a deaf child’s learning and to make up for lost time. Good acoustics, small groups, expert teaching, an extended school day and the opportunity to collaborate with classmates lie at the heart of our success.

We use these 10 activities to build a profile of your child. This profile enables us to understand each child’s strengths and their weaknesses. Because Mary Hare is a big school it can identify a class grouping that will enable each child to thrive in our care. Exceptionally we may find that a child needs an approach to their education that we do not have the expertise to deliver but this is rare.
Your child must be in Year 6 at the time of the assessment to be able to attend.
